mix-use destination

CAIRO, EGYPT

ABDW Architects was appointed to provide advisory and design consultancy services for the development of a new residential-led, mixed-use destination in Cairo (Land Area 10 ha, 110,000 sqm GFA).

Our team developed strategic definition, brief preparation, destination design, concept work and design guidelines for a 10ha master plan located in New Capital Cairo.

There are a number of new satellite cities being built around Cairo, including New Capital, where the site is located.

Our design approach involved creating a new destination, a new place to attract the target market.

The challenge was how to formulate a distinctive character, specific principles and fundamentals upon which the new neighbourhood would be designed, marketed and built.

We approached this project by studying in depth the cultural heritage aspects of Cairo and of the new Egyptian society.

This outlook gave the subsequent design work strong foundations upon which formulating a strong project vision.

As a result, the Client and Developer where provided with a solid conceptual project supported by a detailed briefing document that set the vision, aspirations and design guidelines.
